Yesterday I decided to transpose my whole personal blog in English and I have translated all main pages (at the menu). Although English is not the only world language, it’s the one I prefer. Spanish I would like to learn sometime in the future and French…How do I put it nicely. It’s not my cup of tea 😉 The unofficially world language Esperanto, also on my bucket list.
Language is for us human beings one of the main methods to communicate with each other. Since internet and email it’s easier to connect with people all over the world. I really love that. At the same time it’s very important to think before you write and/or respond. It’s very easy to interpret something your read incorrectly.
However, also in direct conversation you should listen very carefully. I was reminded to this fact, when I translated my page ‘quotes that touch me’ and came across this quote again:
“Can we talk?”
“I thought we were talking.”
“The use of words is not always the same as talking.”
From the book Exile, Richard North Patterson. Not sure if this translation is correct, I’ve read the book in Dutch, but I hope you understand the underlying thougth.
Well, I’m finished transposing my personal blog, the dogs are sleeping, my hubby is at work. I’m going to enjoy the silence for a little bit 😉
N.B. I’m a Dutch soul, living in Germany, therefore my English will not be perfect 😉
