We often think of neighbors as the people living behind the door next to ours. But in our 21st-century reality, our neighbors are also the people we meet in the digital plaza. The ones whose words inspire us or whose art connects us across time zones…
Hello Neighbor!
As a Global Humanist, I believe connection isn’t limited by geography. It is limited only by intentionality. Whether it’s a “Good morning” to the person at the bakery or a thoughtful comment on a soul-stirring post, both are acts of Connection Creation.
This Week’s Questions:
Is there someone in your virtual neighborhood, a creator, a writer, or a stranger you follow, who feels as familiar and neighborly to you, or perhaps even more, as the person living next door?
How do you maintain that meaningful connection between your screen and your real life environment and keep it intentional?
Join the conversation!
I might not be able to read and respond to every comment ‘live’, but I would love to gain insights about your way of connecting in our virtual world.
Looking forward to Connect!
Patty

Most of my fellow bloggers feel like my neighbours. We exchange our daily life, sometimes superficial, sometimes we go deep. We inspire each other in small, common things over a virtual ‘cup of coffee’. With most of them I have a personal connection too: we don’t ‘know’ each other irl, but sometimes we want to exchange more which might be too personal for the blog – and so we mail. Because we share so much of our lives through our blogs, there is instant trust – something that might take longer with real life neighbours. Every now and then I meet such a ‘neighbour’, and some very special friendships have been the result. My aim is always to connect authentically. Either online or irl.
Thank you for sharing you experiences regarding our virtual world, dear Anuk. I’ve been able to build the same beautiful connections : -)
I think digital neighbours are like pen pals. Although you can see them and even maybe speak to them yet one might not know them for who they are completely. I may be just seeing a side of theirs which they project in the virtual world, rarely people in the digital world are as they r in real but I might be glad to just make the connection. Connecting is good, knowing them is going a step further and that then depends whether the two want to connect authentically.
Thank you for sharing your thoughtful perspective! For sure it takes time to create a trustworthy connection. Warm regards, Patty
