Let’s not forget 2020! What?! Yes, I am really asking you not to forget 2020. Sure, a lot has happened during this year that was (understatement) not fun. We had to deal with loss and other life challenges. However…
Survival
My own philosophy is about taking the wisdom of our ancestors into the future. Combining the wise lessons of the past with current modern knowledge and technology. We are a creative specie, resilient when needed. Capable of shifting our attention to our basic need again: survival.
Your beliefs, your opinions, your perspectives are useless, if we become extinct.
Whether we like it or not, our biggest challenges will not be over in 2021. All the conspiracy theories in the world will not change the fact, we have to survive first. Once we believed the earth was flat, now we know it’s not. We need modern knowledge and technology now more than ever. In order to survive, we need to be healthy.
Connection
We have been challenged this year and many will view 2020 as a horror year. Preferably forget all about it and start fresh in 2021. I understand that urge, the need to go back to the normal as we were used to. The comfort zone of not having to deal with the harsh stuff in life. Doing so, the danger is that we also forget about the beautiful moments.
The increased awareness of the need for equality and taking care of the earth. All the new children born into our world, young people who graduated, discoveries about our ancestors, developments in science. Above all, we realized how important connection is; people coming together, working hard to care for our contaminated neighbors and creating a vaccine to get us all safe and healthy again.
Let's not forget 2020!
Life can be harsh and the only guarantee we have is that it will end. We can become suspicious, frustrated, angry and all those emotions triggered by tough challenges. Pointing fingers, complaining and blaming, history taught us, will not bring the solutions now needed.
Let’s not forget 2020. The year it became evident, that viruses, climate change, racism and other challenges in life affect us all. Let’s not forget our desire to survive and the resilience our species have shown. Let’s not forget, difference is our strength. Let’s not forget kindness, compassion and acknowledgement guarantees love.
Let’s not forget that we also need to Connect in order to survive. To Life, to Others, to Yourself.
