In a world that’s constantly changing and where the days seem to pass by faster and faster, the reminder to live in the moment sounds like good advice. At the same time, it’s also difficult to put into practice. Perhaps living with intent is more achievable? Enjoy today’s Connection Letter...
Live in the moment
It truly sounds like good advice, doesn’t it? Life for us humans is finite, and we are here on earth for a short while. Most likely the reason the advice to live in the moment, and to enjoy every moment as much as we can, has been passed on for generations.
The downside of attempting to live in the moment and thus only focus on the present, without our future in mind, could (and probably will) lead to unwanted outcomes. In addition, moving forward without any reflection on the past we deny ourselves the opportunity to learn from past moments.
We share stories, take pictures and film events in an attempt to not forget the important moments in our lives. I even created a virtual home to pass on my personal thoughts, experiences, knowledge, and also special moments. In addition, not to forget myself the intent behind my creations: bringing meaningful content into our world.
Intent
I assume we can all resonate with the cliche ‘time flies by’. The end of 2025 is approaching fast and the conversations during the festivities will for sure be again about not believing how fast the year went. Living in the moment just feels like an undoable goal to set for yourself.
We wake up, prepare and eat some breakfast, jump in the shower, get ready for the day ahead and with all activities during the day, external distractions, etc. Different order, different activities… Who really has time to live in the moment, right?
Perhaps living with intent is more achievable.
Instead of focusing on each and every moment throughout the day, focusing on the activities we are doing could help live more in alignment with our uniqueness. Drinking your beverage in the morning with intent, enjoying the choice you made for the specific brand, the smell and taste, aligned with your choice of diet…
In conversations about the joy of having a dog, I remind people to focus on that walk with their dog. Put away the phone, pay attention to your furry friend and the environment you are in. You made an intentional choice to adopt a dog into your life, so you both deserve full intention for each other.
When earlier this week I intended to publish this Connection Letter, the system I write these letters on malfunctioned. Instead of starting all over, I intentionally made the choice to wait for the system to work again and thus publish a few days later.
Not a fun moment, not forgetting the intent either ; -)
Practical
There are various practical tools to enable you to live more in the moment; praying, meditation, gratitude activities are examples to help you reflect on the life you live right now. Journaling is a great tool for reflection to make sure you are still in alignment with the values you have and the goals you have set. When feeling stuck in the moment, anxious about the next and looking for clarity, a conversation to gain clarity can also be very helpful.
Questions that can help you live more with intent, making choices more intentional:
Is this really what I want to do with my time right now?
Are the Connections I am choosing to make serving me?
Intentional Connections
Isn’t it wonderfully amazing how everything is Connected? Because the way I see it, by living more with intent, you automatically live more in the moment. Mindfulness, gratitude, purpose, meaning… Moments during the day, week, and months will become more enjoyable because you can appreciate the choices you made more. In that moment you do look back, at the end of 2025, you will have no regrets.
You created intentional Connections, that were right for you in each moment.
Stay Connected ; -)
Surviving, evolving, Connecting together: no regrets, meaningful, intentional.
Warm regards,
Patty Wolters
