Life doesn’t always follow a schedule. In this week’s Connection Letter, I share a personal reflection on choosing ‘Quality of Life’ over ‘Human Doing’ requirements, the importance of intentional presence, and how to give yourself permission to cross things off the list when a beloved one or the garden calls…
Good morning, good afternoon, good evening!
I am writing to you a little later than usual. It is Monday, late afternoon.
It has been a rainy day, and for the first time in several days, the house is quiet. This past week has been a masterclass in the unforeseen. Between the busy spring demands of my land and the shifting medical needs of a beloved one, my carefully planned schedule simply evaporated.
I am human, too. Last week, I invited you to define your own Quality of Life. This week, I had to live my own answer. For me, quality of life isn’t about hitting a Sunday deadline or ‘maintaining a presence’ on social media (which I have now deactivated to find more focus).
It is about the freedom to be where I am needed most.
Sometimes, the most well-connected thing we can do is admit that we cannot do it all. I’ve had to slow down, put the ‘Human Doing’ on pause, and focus on the ‘Human Being’ who is a caregiver, a gardener, and a creator.
The Practice: The Connection Book
In my own Connection Book, I’ve been reflecting on the idea of “Intentional Presence”. This week, that meant choosing time with a beloved one or a quiet moment in the garden over a scheduled post.
It reminded me that a Connection Journey isn’t a race to a finish line in September. It is a daily practice of listening to what your life is telling you right now.
The Exercise:
Last week I asked you what Quality of Life means to you. This week, I invite you to look at your to-do list and ask:
Which of these tasks is a ‘Human Doing’ requirement, and which one truly supports my ‘Human Being’ Quality of Life?
If you need to cross something off to make room for a breath, or a loved one, or simply to watch the rain; give yourself permission to do so. I just did.
Warm regards,
Patty
PS: A note on availability. While I am focusing on my family and the quiet build of the Plaza, I remain available for those who need a bit of one-on-one reflection. To ensure I can give my full attention and presence to each person, I am limiting these sessions to two people per week:
- The Soul Letter: For finding clarity and reclaiming your uniqueness through a written exchange.
- Soul Support: A safe, non-judgmental space for when your struggles feel too heavy to carry alone.
If you feel you could use some personal guidance this week, you can find the details in the menu-bar (Personal Connection). If the week is full, I will let you know and we can look at the next.
