Previously in this series regarding the Universal Human Rights, I did select some of those important rights and added my personal view. Picking it up again and this time I will go through all the 30 basic rights. I would like to encourage you to look up our Human Rights, not to take these for granted or to misuse, but as a reminder we are all human beings, Beautiful Souls and therefore we ALL matter…
Universal Human Rights – Do you know them?
Violence, intolerance, racism, discrimination seems to be part of a never ending story. More and more people need to flee their homes and/or their countries, in the hope to find safety and peace elsewhere in our world. When even world leaders appear to have forgotten our Universal Human Rights, I believe it’s time (again) and very important to remind us all of our Universal Human Rights.
Background
The full text is available on the United Nations website.
At my website you will find a permalink to a list of the 30 Universal Human Rights: regardless where you were born, how you are raised, your circumstances, etc., as a human being you automatically have these basic rights. I added this link to make sure all the Beautiful Souls who visit my site, will be reminded of the rights we have.
Picking it up again and this time I will go through all the 30 basic rights and add my personal view. I would like to encourage you to look up our Human Rights, not to take these for granted or to misuse, but as a reminder we are all Human beings, Beautiful Souls and therefore we all matter.
In addition, I hope to inspire the writers and artists among us to also use this topic for an article, story, poem, photograph, paint or any other piece of art and help me and many Human Rights Organizations to spread this information of huge importance.
Article 8
My personal view
“Everyone has the right to an effective remedy by the competent national tribunals for acts violating the fundamental rights granted him by the constitution or by law.”
In previous article, article 7, I explored our right to be treated equal before the law. This post, and thus the next article of the Universal Human Rights, expands that right even more. The right to obtain legal help and access the legal system, when my rights are not respected, you would think is another obvious right.
Anyone who is at least a bit interested what happens on our planet and to our neighbors, will be aware it is not always a given. There are opinions about corrupt legal systems, corrupt officers of the law, etc. I don’t want to go there in this post. When one does not violate the rights of another one on purpose, we wouldn’t even need systems, laws and the Universal Rights.
Anyways, researching Article 8 some more, I noticed this short summary: “Right to Remedy”. Since, this article is about the right to obtain help and thus tell your story when it comes to matters of justice, I couldn’t help also think about the concept of ‘not guilty, until proven otherwise”.
These days, it seems to me we are so eager to convict someone. Often based on assumptions, or the urge to hold someone, anyone, responsible for a wrong-doing. In addition, when a person is accused of misbehavior, it must be that all similar persons probably will behave simultaneously. All white policemen are corrupt, all not-white people are criminals, all celebrities and politicians misuse their powers and so on.
Really?!?!
As if it is not worse enough people can’t always obtain the best legal counsel when needed, we now no longer listen to the full stories of each side in legal matters. Facts, proof; have we forgotten about them? Besides the dominating opinions nowadays about corruption, rightfully so or not, often the verdict has been made before a trial has even started. And that, my dear neighbors, has nothing to do with inadequate legal systems or corrupt law keepers.
Justice, justness, starts with you and me.

You said that right, Patty: justness, starts with you and me. And above and before all: we should ‘obey’ the natural laws. Not the manmade. Being a natural being I always first think of my natural birthrights… freedom being the first and most important of all… 😉
I think, when living more rural as you do, it is easier to focus on individual needs and don’t ‘obey’ the ‘manmade laws’. However, just like nature needs the sun, water, wind, earth, predators, prey animals and thus one and another to live the circle of life, so do we humans (mammals). True freedom lies in embracing that circle of life, I believe. And as the specie we are, we need each other to survive and I still believe, most laws have the intention to help us just do that.
Beautifully said Patty. Agree! I know (because of a lot of things) I am more focused on my individual needs, but I also know we, humans, need each other. Trying to find balance here…
