Mixed feelings
On May 4, in The Netherlands, we remember the lost souls due to war. For years it was only those lost in WOII, however since 1961, we started to also remember victims due to other wars. On May 5, we celebrate the liberation of our country, when we gained back our freedom due to the end of WOII in The Netherlands.
I still feel that Remembrance Day is an important day, because we should never ever forget what people who feel superior to others are capable of. To be freed from such oppression, the emotions felt, is something most of us can only imagine. Fortunate that we never had to experience the fear and horrors of those war years.
At the same time, the last couple of years I’ve mixed feelings about Freedom Day. We collectively said and say ‘never again’, celebrate a full day we live in freedom, while meanwhile on the same continent children are day due to war. While in our cities and villages, people live who had to flee their home countries due to current, still active, wars.
So today, I needed to hear belong song of a Dutch band. To remind me there are still many people on our beautiful planet who are aware; underneath all the labels we’ve invented, we are all the same. Human beings trying to live life to the best of our abilities and circumstances. Safe and free. Who do not feel and act superior.

Soul Connection
