During the month of November, I published a few statements and asked you, global neighbors, to share your perspectives regarding those. Today, I bring you the November compilation of The Hello Neighbor Initiative…
Magic
It is that time of year again; cozy lights hanging in the streets, bells are clinging, the days shorten and stories about mystical figures are told. Is magic fantasy or real? Have we forgotten about it, growing older? Or is it just a made-up concept to fill the pockets of the greedy?
I came across some statements regarding magic and asked you, my dear global neighbor, to share your perspectives on it. Like in previous collaborative articles for this initiative, I am also going to share mine.
"Those who don't believe in magic will never find it."
A global neighbor: “Agreed! You have to believe in whatever, before it can find you!”
Isn’t that the truth for everything ; -) However, it can also be the other way around. These days, in the information age we live in, you can find proof for anything you want to believe. The statement reminded me also of this this quote:
"Greed has overtaken magic."
No thoughts from you, dear global neighbors. I did notice ‘likes’ across the social platforms associated with my virtual home here. Except when you want to become more rich than needed, I think we can all see the unnecessary increased commercial influence during the magical weeks of the year ; -)
"Only those with a pure heart will see magic."
This statement I personally found to be a bit confronting. Maybe you did too, since again only ‘likes’ were given. It got me thinking about my own personal Connection to magic. When not believing in magic, does that mean a person is not pure of heart? Hm.
Maybe we are so conditioned by the stories told throughout the centuries by our ancestors that we nowadays believe magic is only for the children, the innocent. On top of that, the commercialization of the magical times of the years and the seemingly increase of people around us never having enough… Magic might have lost its, well, magic.
Whatever your Connection to Magic is, I do hope you get to enjoy the last couple of weeks of 2025 to its fullest. Even as adults, I believe it to be OK to indulge yourself in the coziness during this time of year. The chance to spend extra time with loved ones, lightning candles, enjoy a good meal and sharing stories, I believe there is magic to be found in just that.
The Hello Neighbor Initiative
In the past, I have initiated the Skilled Helper Collaboration in which my peers shared their perspectives on various topics. In the Hello Neighbor collaborative initiative, I would like to ask you, my global neighbor, to share your perspectives. Regardless of whether you are a stay-at-home-dad, an entrepreneur, a teacher, a chef, a skilled helper, a gardener… we all have insights and experiences that may be of help to our neighbors.
