It has been a couple of weeks since I last posted here @ my virtual world. Do you recognize that feeling of knowing you flunked your exam, and still in sort of a shock when you get the results back confirming that feeling? Well, I was in a similar shock after watching The Social Dilemma.
The Social Dilemma
To me, we should connect online the same way as we do in the real world. With integrity and thus respect for each other. A few weeks back, after watching the documentary ‘The Social Dilemma’, I started to question my own behavior online.
Yes, I was aware that online marketing and search tools are designed to keep you coming back and use them. I also knew people can get addicted to social media platforms and, to me, even worse derive their self-esteem from those. Still, after watching the docu I was not only in shock, I was also demoralized.
Withdraw
The moment my emotions are all over the place and I lose side of who I am at core, I withdraw. I need to do this to gain new clarity of where I want to go. Fortunately, I know tools that can help me during such confusing times. For me one of those tools is music. An artform in which I often find the answers I am searching for.
Here on this website, my virtual world, I aim to inspire my readers to Connect. To Life, to Others, to Yourself. Influenced by marketing techniques I studied and participating in online communities, I realized I did stray away from my own goals. I had fallen for some of the traps presented in the Social Dilemma documentary.
Thought provoking
My vision of our world is anything but a weak fantasy. Not only do I want to inspire to Connect… My content needs to be meaningful: integer, respectful, authentic, real. Thought provoking at times, inspiring you, to keep on choosing YOUR truth.
The lyrics of the Soul Music’s choice of today are controversial. I realize that, however, as mentioned, I also share thought provoking content. “Fear is a choice you embrace” and in both the real as the virtual world I get to decide how often I am going to Connect. In addition, within the law, I get to choose what to share here @ my virtual home. Sticking to this, it resolves my personal social dilemma.
“Every child worthy of a better tale”. Humans are story telling machines. Stories should be fun and/or contributing to our world. Meaningful for both; the real and virtual world. These tales should not be used to divide, mislead or to suppress, or be based on weak fantasies.
Let’s create better tales to share, not only for our children, for all of us!

Soul Connection
There are many ways to Boost Your Soul and music is a fantastic one. There are a variety of genres you can listen to, even Soul Music is a genre in itself. To me, music is also a way to Connect with your Soul. A tool to help you go through emotions and acknowledge them. Depending on your mood, there will be always a piece of art that goes along with it. What I love most about music is how it can Connect people.

I saw The Social Dilemma a couple of months’ ago – how confronting! Especially to know that we’re being manipulated to such an extent. We all know that what we see is what social media wants us to see, but I didn’t realise it was this blatant. I really want to get rid of FB but I have a business page and not allowed to have one unless I have a profile page – clever!

It really is, right?! The person behind the keyboards composes most of the Nightwish songs, if I understood correct. Truly a master at work.
Now you make me very curious about The Social Dilemma… I have no Netflix, so I am looking for it elsewhere. I really do need to change my (our, also husbands) behaviour online, on ‘social’ platforms, knowing what they are about… this might be the ‘thing’ I need to quit Facebook, once and for all. (And although I do not comment very often here, in my opinion we are still connected, somehow… XX)

I watched the same documentary Patty, and like you, I knew much of what was presented, but it was pretty awesome and disappointing to see just how intentional social media owners are in manipulating us.
Fortunately, both you and I are capable of deciding for ourselves 😉
